Preparing Your Quilt Top
Backing
We require the backing to be at least 4 inches longer than the quilt top on all sides. For example, if you have a quilt top that is 60" x 80", your backing should measure at least 68" x 88". It can be bigger, not smaller. Extra fees may apply if we need to put extra time and effort into getting your quilt ready to load. Here's an easy way to remember: Four-for-Four! If you have questions, please contact us.
Pressing
Please press your top and backing prior to shipping so that it's nice and tidy and ready to be loaded. We also appreciate it if you can please clip stray threads or raveling fabrics as best as you can. You might not be able to get them all, but to prevent dark threads from shadowing through your quilt top, please don't skip this important step!
Square Inch Price
Rates for digital and free motion edge-to-edge quilting vary from 2.5 - 4.5 cents per square inch based on the pattern density. Higher density patterns require more time on the longarm and consume more thread.
Examples:
A 60 inch x 80 inch quilt top with a low density meander. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .025 = $120
A 60 inch x 80 inch quilt top with a medium density design. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .035 = $168
A 60 inch x 80 inch quilt top with a high density floral design. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .045 = $216
Our minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Batting
We stock our favorite Quilters Dream and Hobbs batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend. We also have Quilters Dream Select 100% bamboo batting in stock. We have limited quantities of wool batting in stock, please ask for availability. You may also request a specific batting and we can order it for your quilt.
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
We charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders. We utilize only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.
For example, if you have a 60 inch x 80 inch quilt, we would cut 65 inches of the batting of your choice.
65 inches of Hobbs 80/20 Heirloom cotton/poly blend @ $0.19/in = $12.35
65 inches of Quilters Dream Natural 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.33/in = $21.45
65 inches of 100% bamoo @ $0.40/in = $26.00
Thread
We stock both Glide (#40 & #50 weight) and some So Fine (#50) threads. We do not charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price.
We make every attempt to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt, but this is YOUR quilt! Let us know if you have a preference on thread color.
Photography
We are quilters, not professional photographers! We will do our best to take high quality photos of your completed quilt in our well-lit studio. We will then text/email you those images to use however you would like. We do kindly ask that you credit C&C Quilt Company for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This extra service is included in your square inch price.
Please see Our Work page for examples of our photography.
Shipping
Shipping your top and backing to C&C Quilt Company: Our studio is located in Ohio, USA, and we would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. We recommend sending your materials enclosed in a bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: We will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but we don't require it.
